"Sunny" California Swim Meet

"June Gloom" was lasting into July in California when we were there, to bring grandson Locke home from Texas and to watch him and his sister Lia compete in a swim meet.  Above, Lia and friend are ready to swim, despite what felt like cold weather to us!  In the next picture, Lia is poised on the diving platform, ready for a heat.  After each event, the tradition is for the children to get a treat, and so above Lia wrapped up in a yellow towel is clutching the money Mom has just given her for hers.
Below, Locke is about to swim in his first relay.

And here, Locke and his friend are enjoying a sweet treat after their heat.
At right, Locke has just earned a blue ribbon for his winning his heat with his favored and best stroke, the breast stroke.  Below, a proud Dad congratulates Locke!

  1. That looks like so much fun and you said you enjoyed the long meet! I felt as if I were there. As an elder, that is my favorite stroke also!

  2. I would love to have been there. Breast stroke is my favorite and Malcolm's too. Funny. Unusual, really. Susan B.

  3. Yes, we did this Saturday morning - Greenbrook Clubhouse. Zachary won the breast stoke heat, although the butterfly is also something he does well. Cody won one of his heats (free style). They each won one and lost one. It's hard to get a good action picture of a swimmer, isn't it?

  4. I love the breast stroke too! These pictures and captions bring back the memories of our daughters' swim meets - exciting, LONG, Fun. Carson is on a swim team during the school year and loves it too. I'm so glad you could join in this event with your CA grandchildren - and then blog about it!
